Orchard is an independent school and nursery on the outskirts of Barton le Clay, a large village in south Bedfordshire. The school has grown organically since opening twenty years ago with fifteen places for children aged between two and five years. The long-term vision of Orchard was to test the hypothesis that a good sound nursery education laid the foundation for academic excellence and a successful school experience. The favoured bottom up nurturing approach of our small class sizes, which begins with our babies, sets in motion the culture of partnership that develops between family and school.
Children enter our reception class eager and motivated to learn through a seamless nursery provision that is recognised by everyone as the bedrock on which to build. The phrase they 'hit the ground running' wonderfully describes the transition of nursery children to Orchard School that is achieved through sound knowledge of the individual. School, nursery staff and parents work together to create a child profile to ensure that individual skills, interests and needs become an integral part of our pupil knowledge.
Our aim is to develop a passion for learning,
'to be the best that I can be'
